Brandon Shire – The Love of Wicked Men Tour and Contest

Wicked Men Blitz BannerFirst, let me say thanks for hosting the Wicked Men blog tour. The creation of this lengthy novel was quite an adventure. Throughout the course of writing each episode, readers were offered the opportunity to give their input and suggestions on how they thought the story should move along. And I threw in a few twists and surprises along the way, just to keep them on their toes. The Wicked Men blitz features seven unique excerpts, so don’t miss any. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway!

Sid Rivers and Jack Brown are two sides of the same coin. One is a lawyer with his own firm and dreams of money and power; the other is a criminal with a lengthy record and a quest for vengeance. When they meet, sparks fly. But was their meeting an accident? Or was it planned by the billionaires who want to control their destiny?

The Love of Wicked Men is an erotic journey into the underbelly of the legal profession, the corporate culture of profit-at-any-cost, and the secret world of industrial espionage.

Sid stared, motionless. There were so many questions gleaming in Jack’s eyes, so much desire. So much pain. Sid reached out, cupping his neck, drawing him that last inch. Jack leaned into his touch, his kiss hot and punishing when their lips met.

Sid groaned into the kiss before pushing Jack away. He shook his head. “No, you…don’t get to do that,” he stammered, his voice trembling slightly.

“Don’t be afraid of it,” Jack said quietly, still hovering.

“I’m not afraid of shit,” Sid muttered. He looked away, then turned back to Jack with suspicion in his eyes. “Is that another one of your lines?”

“Lines?” Jack asked, pulling back in confusion.

“You’re a Romeo,” Sid reminded him with a sneer. “Isn’t that what you’re here to do? Keep an eye on your asset and use him as an end to your means. Again.”

Jack stood, looking down at him with a frown. He thrust his hands in his pockets and stepped away. “It’s not a line,” he muttered. “Someone pointed out…” He shook his head, dismissing the rest of his comment. “It’s not important,” he added with a shrug. “And that’s not why I…” He looked down at the ground, his words fading. “Never mind. You’re right. I shouldn’t have done that.”

Sid snorted his agreement. But there was no missing the hunger in Jack’s eyes. It had been every bit as real as the ferocity of his kiss. He managed to keep his face blank as his mind ran away with what could’ve happened if he hadn’t pushed Jack away. No…definitely not, he told himself.

He snuck a quick glance and watched Jack’s eyebrows gather as his jaw clenched. “You need to go,” he said when Jack caught him staring.

“What did I do?” Jack asked, seeming perplexed by the rejection and subsequent dismissal.

“You left me in the fucking warehouse, to start with. Then, you watched them torture me.” Sid studied him for a moment. “Do you think I’m stupid?”

“They were only trying to scare you. And when it got too hairy…” Jack began, trying to refute the accusation.

“Don’t fucking lie to me,” Sid interrupted with a shout. “I don’t need anyone in my life who tries defending themselves with a lie.”

Jack’s chin dropped. He held his hands out. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I never meant for you to get hurt. I only wanted them to scare you. Make you realize…”

“They pissed me off!” Sid yelled. He stood and threw his glass across the yard, shattering it on a rock near the edge of the forest just beyond his property line. His breath was rapid and harsh in the quiet of the night. Slowly, he deflated and sat again, hanging his head in his hands. “I want to kill that motherfucker,” he said quietly.

Sid raised his head and met Jack’s eyes, his gaze fiery. “Him too.”

Jack took a deep breath and scanned the shadows before he spoke. “It’s not worth it. And for the record, it won’t make you feel any better.” He glanced over at Sid. “I know from personal experience.”

Sid scoffed. “So says the man chasing his sister’s killer. Am I supposed to let Marn walk too?”

“Didn’t say that,” Jack responded. “But you have a legal way of doing things and I have my not-so-legal ways. Stick with what you know. It’s safer.”

Sid took a deep breath, calming himself. “So murder is out of the question?”

A small smile cracked Jack’s lips. “Yeah.” He shrugged slightly. “It’s frowned upon, even for lawyers.”

About the Author

Great stories should not depend on gender or sexual preference of a character, but instead upon the strength of the characters and the honesty and urgency of the story.

Brandon Shire proves he understands the complexity of writing LGBT fiction from two very different viewpoints – serious and smexy. His serious fiction is written for those who enjoy a book, which explores life’s darker elements in a more literary form, while the smexy fiction is for those who enjoy a graphically erotic romance.

Regardless of the differentiation above, Brandon writes for people who enjoy being challenged, and for those who strive to understand situations they don’t typically encounter. He pens raw, emotional stories about characters, which readers will either love or love to hate.

Life and love are pretty damned special, but neither is always perfect. Life can be painful, and real love hard to find. Brandon’s fiction is an exploration of the (sometimes) arduous search for the happiness we all desire.
