Summary:

When twenty-two-year-old Emilio Sanchez sees handsome Spencer Derdinger walking by his construction site, Emilio makes it his goal to seduce the shy professor. Getting Spencer into bed isn’t difficult, but Emilio soon learns that earning the trust of a man deeply hurt will take time and patience. With a prize like brilliant, sweet Spencer on the line, Emilio decides he is strong enough to face the challenge.

Spencer is surprised when he’s approached by the gorgeous construction worker he’s admired from the safety of his office window. Acting spontaneously for the first time in his thirty-eight years, Spencer takes Emilio home. When the casual hookup turns into the potential for love, Spencer realizes that if he wants to build a life with Emilio, he’ll need to be strong enough to slay his personal demons and learn to trust again.

Review:

This book gave me everything I was hungry for and didn’t even realize I was craving!  Make sure you have a strong sweet tooth before diving in.

Emilio, oh my, Emilio.  He’s sex on legs – big, but gentle, tough but caring, young with an old soul, protective and irresistible all rolled into one wickedly hot package.  When he sets his sights on Spencer, he’s like a freight train barreling down the tracks and Spencer is helpless to get out of the way.  Instead of getting run over though, Spencer manages to grab hold and go along for the ride despite his doubts and fears.

Spencer.  He’s smart, shy, vulnerable, kind of messed up, completely bewildered as to why a young and sexy hunk would be interested in him, and thoroughly overwhelmed with Emilio’s confidence and direct approach.  Spencer has suffered physically and emotionally at the hands of prior boyfriends and Emilio is just the medicine he needed to cure most of his issues.

I loved and adored these guys together.  Their passion was enough to set off a raging forest fire.  The age gap worked really well, especially having a super confident younger man going after the uncertain older man who carried some baggage.  Emilio knew that Spencer was “the one” almost immediately.  He never had doubts about them and never made a misstep in the process.  He seemed to know the perfect thing to say or action to take to give Spencer a boost whenever Spencer let his self-doubts start to get in the way.

There’s virtually no angst in this story and I ended up loving it that way.  The relationship begins immediately and just grows stronger with each successive page.  Whenever I’m craving a really good dessert, I’ll be reaching for this story again.  Definitely one of my favorites by this author and a keeper on my favorites shelf!!
