When Spectrums’ leaders propose a historical museum as a way to unite their divergent populations, some are in favor of the plan, while some, including Pascal, are against it. The last thing he wants is to revisit the time when humans first arrived on the Spectrum shore. When Pascal is ordered to escort an archivist from the underworld for the project, London, his human partner, is shocked by Pascal’s fierce opposition. But Pascal still has secrets he doesn’t care to share with his lover. Yet given no choice but to complete the assignment, Pascal meets the archivist, who turns back time and takes Pascal with it, much to the delight of Redona, the queen of the underworld. Meanwhile, London also has his hands full. There’s a new drug on the streets and it looks like werewolves are involved. Can London solve the new case, especially after Pascal abruptly disappears from Spectrum Skies
.London wasn’t quite sure what was up with Pascal but he’d been distant and moody ever since he’d returned from his “mystery” meeting.
Intel had been able to narrow down the search for Sniffy. And Mockler had offered to loan out a few wolves to help with the tracking.
London was gearing up to go on the hunt when he noticed Pascal sitting at his desk, staring off into space. It wasn’t like Pascal to leave the command entirely to him.
London hailed Midnight and Lilith, who were gathering their weapons in the back room. “Get the others together and head out. Pascal and I will be right behind you.”
“Yes, boss,” Lilith said, and Midnight saluted.
London headed down the hallway and knocked on Pascal’s door. He didn’t wait for an invite to walk in.
Pascal looked up. “We ready?”
London closed the door. “I sent them on, told them we’d follow. What’s up with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean. Even since you came back from hell knows where, you’ve been acting weird. Is something wrong?”
“Do you really need to know every fucking thing that’s happening in my head, London?” Red anger flashed in his eyes.
London actually took a step back. “Whoa, okay.”
“I’m sorry,” Pascal said suddenly with a sigh. “Let’s get going.” He stood. “I want to find this bastard.”
“They picked up the sex-crazed human while you were gone. He’s here in the special infirmary unit.”
“Did he turn?”
“Not yet. They think they may be able to prevent it with the right treatment,” London said.
“Good.” Pascal wasn’t looking at him.
“Did I do something?” London asked, coming closer.
Pascal secured his gun in the holster. “Why do you think you did something?” He met his gaze. “Leave it alone, London.”
“I don’t like it when you get like this, so cold and aloof. You shut me out.”
“That’s what vampires do. That’s who we are, cold and aloof,” Pascal said without emotion.
“That’s not true.”
Pascal looked at him. “Only because you don’t want it to be true. Maybe I say and do things to please you, but it doesn’t mean I really feel like saying them.”
London’s eyes widened. That hit hard. “What does that mean? You don’t mean what you say?”
“Humans are too damn…emotional. Wanting to share and feel and…fuck.”
London blinked. “You’re going to tell me what in hell this is all about!” He walked up and placed a hand on Pascal’s bicep.
Pascal looked at him. “Maybe I just want to fuck and feed and not talk about feelings. Okay?”
“I…” London began but he didn’t have a chance to say anything. Pascal pulled him into his arms and kissed his mouth hard…

D. J. Manly says, “I write not only for my own pleasure, but for the pleasure of my readers. I can’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t written and told stories. When I’m not writing, I’m dreaming about writing, doing something wild and adventurous, or trying to make the world a better and more open-minded place to live in. I adore beautiful men, and I know I’m not alone in this! Eroticism between consenting adults, in all its many forms, is the icing on the cake of life!”
