Rating: ★★★½☆

When THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley met Team Leader Sloane Brodie, he couldn’t have imagined how slamming into his new partner—literally—would shake both their worlds. Now four years later, they’ve faced dangers, fought battles both personal and professional… and fallen deeply in love. Now their big moment is finally in sight, and they’re ready to stand up together and make it official. Unfortunately, as the countdown to their big day begins, an enemy declares war on the THIRDS….

With their family in danger, Dex and Sloane are put to the test on how far into darkness they’ll walk to save those they love. As secrets are unearthed, a deadly betrayal is revealed, and Dex and Sloane must call on their Destructive Delta family for one last hurrah to put an end to the secret organization responsible for so much devastation.

Dex and Sloane will have plenty of bullets to dodge on the way to the altar, but with happiness within their grasp, they are determined to get there come hell or high water….

Fans of the THIRDS series will love this one as Charlie Cochet provides something for everyone. The first thirty percent is sweet, fluffy sexy times—Dex and Slone in love and frequently in lust. There’s lot of reminiscing about how they met, reflections on their future, discussions about their career changes and plenty of sex scenes. After that point, a dramatic event occurs that pits Dex and Sloane against the Makhai, the powerful organization out to destroy both TIN and THIRDS. They work with Sparks, as even she is not affected by what happens, but it’s their team and the other THIRDS teams that really come to bat for them. Again more sentiment—lots of warm fuzzies throughout.

There’s a lot of sex. A lot of sex. There’s also a lot of sweet and bittersweet moments, a great deal about each of the characters in Destructive Delta and even about some of Dex’s and Sloane’s past antagonists like Taylor. The series is wrapped up in a pretty package with a bow on top. But when you unwrap the box, watch out! There’s shootouts, explosions, betrayal, salvation, and a mole in the midst of everything.

We learn more about Sparks’s background, Tony is put at risk, and after being saved (of course, he is!), his relationship with Sparks is upended. Ash and Cael seem set for a future together, as are Calvin and Hobbs, and even Hudson, who is happy with his husband, Seb, is reunited with his brother, Wolf (aka Alfie). It appears that Wolf will be staying around—a most intriguing character and one I am happy to see more of. The Makhai stage a rousing last minute attack just before The Wedding and it looked for awhile like Dex and Sloane might not be together on this earthly plane. But Ms. Cochet gave readers The Wedding of the Year complete with laughter, tears, gummy bears, and bright colorful decor. Those who follow the series won’t want to miss this but it definitely is not a standalone.
