When Hunter and Alex (formally Shawn) are given the vacation of a lifetime, it’s a chance for them to pay attention to romance and get out of the path of danger. The tiny Caribbean island of Saba is gorgeous, the first to have marriage equality, and the Sabans are the nicest people on earth.

There’s lots of rum poolside for relaxing and a room with a mirror on the ceiling for passion. Hot karaoke nights, cold beer, and new friends.

Their new friends Orfeo and Max, and Max’s sister Talisha, share a troubling secret. Alex and Hunter want to help. As a hurricane bears down on them, a dead body surfaces, and a purple backpack loaded with stolen jewels leads a pair of dangerous men to the island.

Alex would rather poke his own eyes out with a pointy stick than call on his old enemy Nick Truman for help; he’d also do anything to keep Hunter out of danger. But even his nemesis can’t reach them now.

Once again, they only have each other to depend on as their paradise is about to become hell on earth.
Having been almost a year and a half since I read the first book of this series, I found it was a little hard remembering the back story for these guys. It wasn’t something that was easily uncovered or spelled out concisely in this version – I had to work at it to piece it back together. That being said, I would definitely advise trying to read these books not only in order, but also in relatively close proximity from a timeline perspective if at all possible since that is bound to increase your overall enjoyment!

Some people just tend to attract trouble like bees to honey, and that pretty much sums up Hunter and Alex. These poor guys only want to enjoy a couple of weeks on a beautiful tropical island – sun, fun, drinks, and voyeuristic sex under the enormous ceiling mirror in their hotel room. What could possibly go wrong – it should be simple, right? However, life has other plans and not only do they find themselves smack dab in the middle of a mystery, but one with bad guys and hurricanes to boot.

With a host of secondary characters that add dimension and depth to this story, they’ll keep you entertained. They’ll also keep you intrigued and guessing as you puzzle along with Alex and Hunter as to what secrets they are hiding. I think you’ll also enjoy the authentic feeling you get about the island setting for this story. I could totally feel myself right there with the sun beating down on my face, a rum drink in hand, and eyeing up the pretty boys!

All in, I found this to be a very nice continuation of the journey that is Alex and Hunter. I’m kind of hoping there might be a third book in the making because I think this book left the door open to that possibility without ending on a cliffhanger in any way. If that ends up being the case, I’ll get in line to wait for it with high expectations!
