Cursed by an impatient witch to turn into a tortoise at inopportune moments, Tip is horrified to find himself tortoise-napped by a customer at the Isle of Wight cafe where he works.
Things start to look up when Tip ends up very literally in the capable hands of drop-dead gorgeous Steve, but Tip soon begins to wonder just how far he can trust Steve, who turns out to have a close connection with his kidnapper. Tip’s attempts at a normal life — and love life — seem doomed to remain frustrated in more ways than one!
Inspired by a real-life incident. Yes, really.
What a hoot! And God, I love that title! This was a delightful story. Only 33 pages, but it’s one of those stories that puts a smile on your face right from the beginning and the smile never stops.
Tip is human, but due to a curse by a witch when the young man accidentally offended her, he turns into a tortoise at the most inopportune times. He never knows when that might happen, and he can neither control that, nor bring himself back to human. The shifts last from a few minutes to a few days. When it happens this time, his sister places him in the seating area outside her café so he can get fresh air and he won’t be far when he shifts back—naked. He always comes back naked, and that’s created some issues for him in the past.
Unfortunately, this time, a sweet little old lady spots him and decides to take him with her, not knowing he’s human and needs to stay at the restaurant. He manages to get out of her hotel room and into the one next door where he hopes to eventually at least find something to cover himself when the shift happens, but he doesn’t get out before a young man shows up—just as the naked Tip is changing back.
From there on, the young man who showed up shares surprising information, and of course, they are attracted to one another, and it looks like Tip is going to get his man for a nice HEA. Then just as the story is ending, another surprise occurs, one I’m not going to spoil for readers.
Short and sweet, packed full of humor, interesting and unique, and an MM romance. What more could we ask for? Highly recommend.
