Glenn Holloway’s predictable life ended the day he confessed his homosexuality to his family. As if that wasn’t enough, he then poured salt in the wound by walking away from the ranch he’d grown up on, to open the restaurant he’d always dreamed of. Without support from his father and brother, and too proud to accept assistance from anyone else, he had to start from scratch. Over time things worked out: Glenn successfully built a strong business, created a new home, and forged a life he could be proud of.
Despite his success, his estrangement from the Holloways is still a sore spot he can’t quite heal, and a called-in favor becomes Glenn’s worst nightmare. Caught in a promise, Glenn returns to his roots to deal with Rand Holloway and comes face-to-face with Mac Gentry, a man far too appealing for Glenn’s own good. It could all lead to disaster—disaster for his tenuous reconnection with his family and for the desire he didn’t know he held in his heart.
Boy, howdy. Mary Calmes found a way to feed my addiction to the Holloways. Unfortunately, no couple can replicate the sheer joy of watching Rand court Stefan and then settle into the ideal of couplehood: open communication, absolute devotion, and hot, steamy, romantic scenes. That being said, there was still more than enough to enjoy here. And let’s face it—if you are a fan of this author, you know you will likely find the perfect formula for an ooey-gooey, sweet story—the alpha male and the smaller, everybody-loves-him, scrappy-but-sweet man.
That all being said, Glenn Holloway has slimmed down (no more steroids to get himself to look like Rand), and he’s gotten his restaurant business off the ground. In fact, it’s huge success and he’s using young persons who are misfits in their families or other places but work cohesively together under their favorite person—their boss, Glenn. But Glenn can’t stay to enjoy his success because Stefan has called in a favor Glenn has owed him for two years, and Glenn intends to pay.
He has to help Rand with a three-day cattle roundup, and once it’s done, he’ll never have to set foot on the Red Diamond, Rand’s ranch, again. Over and above not being able to stand ranching any longer, he can’t stand Rand and his brother Zeke, and most importantly, he can’t stand Maclain Geary, the ranch foreman. The big, alpha male with the storm cloud eyes and sexy swagger is mean and straight, and Glenn’s admittedly gay heart and search for romance would love to plant itself all over Mac, but it’s not possible, so Glenn’s frustration generates his angry mean streak.
Of course, nothing goes as planned and circumstances combine to throw the two men together, revealing to Glenn just how wrong he was about Maclain. Mac has wanted Glenn for years, and he proves it when he finally gets his chance. Smokin’ hot and such a wonderful treat for Mary Calmes’s fans! As I said at the beginning, if you love Mary Calmes, and maybe if you love to watch two sexy cowboys finally get the man of their dreams, this one is for you.
