Martial arts expert Lewis is the kind of bodyguard who slips under most people’s radar. Quiet, reserved, but constantly on alert, he’ll do his job, keep his charges safe, then relax by reading Shakespeare in his spare time.

When he’s given a case involving a spoiled celebrity singer, Lewis isn’t all that impressed. The job is nothing but babysitting a pretty boy, and he’s used to diplomatic postings with depth and challenge. What could he possibly have in common with the man he’s being forced to look after?

Alex became the envy of many when he and his fellow bandmates won second place in a huge TV talent show. He has more money than he knows what to do with, no life goals, an ex-boyfriend selling a sex tape and now, someone who wants him dead, or at the very least maimed.

Can Lewis keep Alex safe, even when things usually in his control go to hell? Is running to a remote Scottish island the only way for them to stay alive?
First and foremost, please tell me where I can contract one of these bodyguards for myself? These guys are ripe for falling in love, and RJ Scott brings us another sweet tale of romance between a bodyguard and his subject in this book.

Lewis is a martial arts expert, has eidetic memory, an IQ of 147, and a hot body to boot. Once a year, he slips away to the island off the coast of Scotland where his family has lived for generations. He happens to be laird there, though he doesn’t often speak of it. But he does pour much of his earnings as a bodyguard back into the island in an effort to make improvements and in the hopes that it will one day be self-sustaining. Both his brother and sister still live there, and he is looking forward to going back agin this year.

And that’s when his boss, Kyle, puts a kink in his plans by offering him a quarter million dollars to take a member of a famous boy band with him, under his protection for four weeks. Alex was caught having sex with the grandson of a notorious Russian mob boss, sex that was videotaped and is now infamous. But though Alex and Roman, the grandson, are not a couple and actually barely know each other, apparently the mob thinks that by getting to Alex, Roman will change his mind about testifying against “the family.”

Lewis reluctantly takes the job, thinking Alex will be an uneducated party boy. But he thought wrong as he finds out after spending some time with the young man. And on top of all that, he’s gorgeous and has the most kissable lips Lewis has ever seen. And Lewis likes kissing. And when Lewis finally kisses Alex, Lewis likes kissing Alex—a lot!

A sweet romance ensues as the couple work together to make repairs on the island and interact with Lewis’s family. As always with RJ Scott, the secondary characters are as well-developed as the MCs, and their stories are expertly woven into the context of the primary romance.

When trouble comes to the island, seeking Alex and causing Lewis to react emotionally rather than impersonally, catastrophe happens, and Lewis blames himself. Is there any hope this couple will get back together? Can they have their HEA? Would RJ Scott do that to us?

In fact, I enjoyed this story more than the others I’ve read in the series. I know it’s because of the characters, but I can’t pinpoint exactly why. Perhaps it’s because Lewis isn’t a single individual—he’s a man with a family and with community obligations that are as much a part of him as his brown eyes. I recommend this one to lovers of MM romance and if you like a wee bit of Gaelic, and/or a man wearing a kilt (!) you should definitely enjoy this story.
