When Nikolai Balenescu and his brother stop by a small, out of the way planet called Jayron to deliver some goods, they have no idea what’s in store for them. Nikolai is immediately attacked by a fierce, gorgeous little prince named Jagger, who takes the Lycan shifter away in chains. Nikolai allows himself to be disarmed because he instantly recognizes the prince as his mate, and he’s willing to play along until he can figure out why his ship was attacked and how he’s now going to save his prince from his fearsome Lycan family who will be coming for him, intent on revenge. Meanwhile, Prince Jagger decides he’ll take the gorgeous Lycan as his love slave and puts him in chains. At first Nikolai is angry, but soon decides that being a love slave to his beautiful mate is an idea he’s only too happy to go along with.
This book is worthy entry as a second installment to this series, which is one I look forward to reading more about in the future. I felt that the story was well written and quite entertaining. It kept me interested all the way to the end.
Jagger by far was the most amusing character for me and one I would love see to more of in the future series. He was the perfect mixture of versatility in showing both his dominant and submissive sides to this mate and the people he leads. His protective nature toward Niki was both endearing and so loving, especially when he thought he needed to protect his mate from even his loving family.
I found the agreement to help from the Lycans to be the most interesting concept in this book. It was the perfect blend of allowing Jagger to lead his people in saving his kidnapped mother and while giving Niki a chance to show his mate how much he loved and needed him.
Once again I find myself liking this series more and more. I look forward to the other Alphas getting their own story. I give kudos to Ms West for making this series a little more consensual on both characters part and less cruel than her previous series. My one suggestion for this series in the future would be to see more world building on Lycanus and Lycanus 3.
