Summary: Hot porn star Ryan Henderson is desperate. On the run for a murder he didn’t commit, he tries to hide out by selling himself at an auction for love slaves. When a handsome Lycan wolf-shifter, Blayde Balenescu buys him, Ryan thinks his prayers have been answered—only to find out he’s jumped from the frying pan into the fire! Blayde is an intergalactic bounty hunter who’s only after the money Ryan will bring in. When Ryan gets off the transport bringing him to Blayde, however, he’s startled at Blayde’s violent reaction once he touches him. Dominant Blayde has recognized Ryan as his mate, and now Blayde has to figure out not only how he can possibly convince the young man to stay with him, and allow him to teach him proper behavior, but also how he’ll manage to keep Ryan alive long enough to save him from his powerful enemies
I have to say I have read books by this author in the past and found them to be a difficult read for me, with themes of nonconsensual behaviors and BDSM storylines. I tend to bypass those types of books, not being my preferred thing to read. Thankfully, I have to say I love this series so much better by this author.
I really like the relationship between the brothers and the cousins in this book and thought the storyline was very interesting, sexy and fast paced. Blayde and Ryan are certainly made for one another, and the chemistry between them was so romantic and hot. I love how Ryan was able to just blow Blayde’s mind during the love making between the two of them. While Blayde may be the dominant character in this relationship, it was sure nice to see Ryan be able to knock him of his game every now and then.
In addition I thought the author did very well with the development and world building of the planet Lyncanis and the history behind the family curse of the brothers and their cousins. Shannon West continues to surprise me. Her characters are interesting and addictive to read about. My one and only reservation about this book is that the main focus of the development of the relationship between the two main characters is inside of the bedroom and the sexual scenes. While of course this is important, I’d like to see the relationship trajectory continue outside the bed as well.
I really look forward to reading more in this series and the adventures of the other characters in this book and hope it will entertain me as much as the first one did in this series.
